For our transportation to the airport, we decided to keep the rental car until the next morning and simply return it at the airport for an additional AUD30.
Extremely convenient, the dropoff point is located right across all the terminals with a connected walkway. Check in for our domestic Qantas trip to Sydney was fast and easy, using the self check in kiosks and baggage drop offs.
The flight was a quick one and after just over an hour, landed back safely in Sydney. This time, I decided to book the Amora Hotel on Jamison Street, right by Circular Quay. A newer hotel, the rooms have a more modern feel with a gorgeous bathroom that includes a bathtub. Our rooms were high up and gave us stunning views of the city.
Immediately after getting to the hotel, we decided to check out the Birkenhead Outlets located half an hour away. With an Uber, it cost roughly AUD30. The outlet sits right on the water and gives you great views, however, the deals offered here are next to none. One of the stores even had items from two seasons ago that I had purchased from the US for over half the listed price. If you intend to actually go on a shopping spree, I would skip this place altogether.
At night we decided to attend the outdoor opera, Eighth Wonder, at the Opera House, outlining the history of the world wonder. Each person also received a headset to better hear which really helped to appreciate the singing. The backdrop was impressive, set against the sky and using the outdoor steps as a stage, but the three and something hours of the performance was a bit too long and towards the end, did not compensate for its novelty. We did get the tickets at a special rate of AUD69 with discounts for anyone under 30 so make sure to ask if you are eligible. However, at the regular price of AUD149, I would highly consider simply taking the tour.
